Carey was a fashion model. She stands almost 5'10" tall and was very well-liked by top American designers such as Calvin Klein, Ralph Lauren and others. Her father was an eminent scientist and was awarded the title of Scientist in 1979 by the Rocky Mountain Association of Geologists. In the course of his work, Carey grew up all around the world. She started modeling part time when she was a student studying at college at University of Colorado and caught the attention of a representative of the Ford model Agency in New York. The model moved to France in 1980 and lived briefly in Paris and Bordeaux before returning home to New York to continue with her college education and modeling career. She soon began appearing on the covers of Vogue, Glamour, etc. As she modeled and continued to pursue her studies at a full-time level for a literary major within New York University. Gradually she became interested in acting and attended the Neighborhood Playhouse in New York. She made her acting debut through a tiny character in 'Club Pardise' in 1986 with Robin Williams. She loves rock climbing as well as skiing and windsurfing.
